Did Kanye's Stage Rush of Taylor Swift's Award Acceptance at the VMAs Piss You Off?

Last night was the MTV Video Music Awards. Beating out Beyonce for her internet-storming video "Single Ladies" was Taylor Swift, a pop country singer who is slated to be the real-life Hannah Montana, winning the hearts of tween and teen girls everywhere. Clearly, Taylor Swift has a PR machine working for her but does that justify Kanye West's bumrush on her acceptance speech? Was Kanye's bumrush necessary and political? Was it all a stunt? Share with us your thoughts.

Hannah Montana was the movie soundtrack, Mily Cyrus was the vocalist. Neither she nor Michael nominated though as you state, were among top three sellers. So, curious as to how top album sales justify, once again, nomination for a video award.

Not trying to convert or be converted. Instead, offering an opinion that is not the same as yours and others in the forum. Mob mentality is always scary to me and particularly when applied to free speech and this notion of decorum. I literally pray every day that black folk would express this much outrage towards the countless acts of injustice done that result in so much damage beyond the hurt feelings of a person who is rich and part of an already entitled part of society. I am just overwhelemed by the response to Kanye and the lack of empathy towards him as a person first, and as a true victim if we want to talk victim-hood, recently losing his mother. The response to Kanye is like he raped Taylor and it truly is despicable in my opinion-- moreso than anything he did on Sunday or before. Despicable because it as the level it is over this kind of foolishness but rarely over anything political or IMPORTANT.

If you go on iTunes and type in Hannah Montana they credit that name as the artist. Michael Jackson can't win or be nominated for a VMA for an album that was released in 1982. (besides the category in question was best female video). We are obviously on different sides of the fence on this one, i still think Kanye is a jackass.

He was wrong.

He totally stepped all over Taylor Swift's moment. That's just not right. It's rude and sets a bad precedent, for one thing. If everybody with a strong opinion grabs a mic or crashes a moment, no one would get heard. Haha. I just got a mental visual. The future of public/private events in America:

"Gimme that mic. S'cuse me, Rev. Honey, you don't deserve him! Brotha, she's no good. Come on now, y'all. You know they can both do better. Alright, time for me to go. I've got three more weddings and a funeral to get to today. Peace out."

Kanye really does need to get it together. He's a talented and big-hearted guy, right. Just a little bit of impulse control goes a long way. He's got many venues to say whatever he wants. During her acceptance speech? NOT the time.

He apologized, though. Good on him. And congratulations to her.

I'm getting tired of a lot of this rude, mannerless, uncivil behavior going on. Or when people say controversial things and then complain (or their supporters do), as if their First Amendment rights guarantee freedom from consequences or backlash or from people calling you out as an ass. Your freedom of expression doesn't trump everyone else's.

But whatev. I just saw the clip. Don't watch award shows usually. Taylor Swift will be just fine. She'll get air time. And so will Kanye. And Beyonce. And MTV's rating and ad sales will do just fine, too, because of the controversy.

If this is Monopoly, they're all sitting on Park Place and Boardwalk.

I just think that if you’re upset at the way award ceremonies are conducted then you should attack the people in charge. He could have boycotted or petitioned to raise awareness against musically mediocrity. Taylor had nothing to do with being nominated or winning besides making music. She was an innocent bystander and I'm glad he apologized but I hope he realizes his mistake(s) and learns from them (as I would hope from any person on the planet).
