Born in the Liberal City Of San Francisco, Chaquis Maliq has been exposed to many genres of music. Inspired by rhythm and blues, funk, soul, alternative, jazz, rock, Latin, Gospel and of course hip-hop. Introduced to her first piano at the age of two, Chaquis sang every song she new off key and banged on the piano as loud as she could. Soon she was making up songs and recording on her boom box. But it wasn’t until she was exposed to poetry, that she found out how exquisite writing skills were. Most of her peers suggested that she should become a rapper, but she didn’t have it in her heart. Chaquis really wanted to sing and make her own music, but no one ever nourished it, not even her church. All Maliq knew, was to try and sing like the performing artists that she admired. Chaquis Maliq finally came into her own when she relocated to the East Coast. Chaquis has collaborated with Artists and Producers in Baltimore, New York, and New Jersey. Being that Chaquis mimicked other singers vocals, Maliq’s voice is now in control and versatile. This self-managed, remarkable, talented, Chaquis Maliq, is now pursing her polished, talented, independent, melting pot of music, by producing, writing, collaborating, and engineering all of her work.
